This book was leant to me by a friend with the assurance that I would like it. I’m never really a fan of borrowing books off other people because I’m dutifully bound to say - Oh yes, that book was awesome - when I’m actually trying to think of a plausible reason why I dont want to read the next book offered to me.

For the first half of this book, I thought that would be the case. I didn’t really want to like this book. The main character was a bit of a hardnosed bitch, and I didn’t really buy the concept that Vampires could vote. But. The book grabbed me - the main character is strong and hardnosed and just a little bit sassy.

I will be politely asking to borrow the next in the series.

Garth Nix - Abhorsen

Abhorsen is the final book in the trilogy, and one not to miss. One of those books where you’d just wish that the author would write another novel just so I could keep reading about these characters! (And lucky for his, he did!)

Garth Nix - Sabriel

Sabriel is a pretty good book by itself, but it sets up the trilogy really well. I struggled to engage with the main characters, and it was only towards the end of this book that it actually hooked me. But it hooked pretty good because I went straight out and bought the other two in the series.

Garth Nix - Lirael

Lirael continues the saga - I liked this book better than the first… but less than the third!

Eldest by Christopher Paolini

Eldest
This book is a great sequal to Eragon - although it tends to really dwell during the middle of the tale. I’m not normally a 2-book person, but I managed to read another book at the same time as this one. Awaiting the third.

Anita Blake - Guilty Pleasures
Leant to me by Finder451. I struggled to get into this book - the first few pages the heroine struck me as being overlly ballsey and aggressive. She’s growing on me, though.
