Steve Irwin

The world needed Steve Irwin.

He was filled with life and an often irritating amount of enthusiasm.  He was the type of person that you’d roll your eyes at, and shake your head.  He was the type of person that had the conviction to do wild things to achieve his goals.  He jumped in, feet first.  He lived life like it was a demonstration to other people:  This is how you do it - This is how you live a good life.

I’ve been to his Zoo a few times - it’s a popular destination for all of the international guests that come to stay at Squashed Frog Palace.  I went there recently, about 6 weeks ago, and enjoyed it.  The park has evolved from the Beerwha Fauna and Reptile Park that I first visited to this huge complex devoted to conservation.  I saw him there once.  Just as full-on and gee-whiz as he appears on tv.

My thoughts go out to his young family.
The world needs a little more Steve Irwin.
Get Enthusiastic.

Dont be afraid to look like a fool.

Grab opportunities with two hands - and don’t let go.

Horror.

On Friday night, my life flashed before my eyes.

I watched as the database that drives ‘Not Sleeping, Dreaming’ was entirely erased from my hosting server.  Woe.  Doom.  End of the world.

Mr Frog wasn’t all that supportive.  I think he looked up from his 3D CAD drawing and said
“Should have had a backup.”

I know I should have had a backup.
I know I should be more careful with files that I have an emotional attachment too.
I know, I know, I know.

That didn’t stop it from being any more deleted than it already was.

So I panicked.  Some of you may have seen the error message:
“Not Sleeping, Dreaming has been erased. Ms Frog is now trying to find a truck to lie under.”

Thankfully, before I took my own life I asked all the system administrators if they happened to take a system backup.

BLESS THEM.  They did.  They took a backup when I didn’t.  May their beds always be warm and cosy and may they have a neverending supply of coffee and chocolate available to them.

When I found that the database had been restored, I made a little sound that I would normally associate with mental patients.  Whooooehhhayaaah!

So, to celebrate the rebirth of the database, I decided to rebirth the theme.  So…

Happy New Theme.

Friday Superstar

Warning: This post contains bitter and cynical rantings. If you have no urge to read a ‘downer’ then please visit this site and have a great day.

Friday’s are especially fantastic.

Fridays are the last day of the working week. I spoke to my desk buddies and it seems like I”m not the only one who looks forward to Friday simply because we can all get drunk and not wake up at 3am in a cold sweat, thinking about things we should have done at work.

Hurrah for hangovers, which are mildly more amusing than stress attacks at stupid o’clock in the morning.

To make my Friday even more amazing - I locked my car in the carpark. I could see Girty through the mega secure carpark gateway, but could dematerialise myself through the door in order to get to her.

So, I was in a strange place. 7.30pm on a Friday night in the valley is an interesting place to be. I had Goth’s with fake blood (I hope) dripping down their chins walking past me going in one direction and dolly-boys walking to the Gay Pub going in the other direction. Neither of whom could help me.

I found a phone number written on a wall and called it. It was the building security for the wrong building. He stood with me for five minutes, scratching his head and his arse trying to figure out what to do .

I ended up breaking in to the other carpark via the other side… I then found a nice little man working for security that took me straight to my car. He then proceeded to give me a verbal tongue lashing because I’d accidently parked in the wrong park.

Dar’lin, this is a private car park. People have to pay to park here. Next time you will be towed at your own expense.

As it was beer o’clock I didn’t really have time to explain to him that I ACTUALLY PAY FOR THE PRIVATE CAR PARK AND I CAN PARK WHERE THE HELL I CHOOSE.

So, I drove home listening to something de-stressing. It happened to be Disney Classics. So I zip-a-dee-doo-dah’ed all the way home to the beer in the fridge.

Hurrah for Saturday Morning Hangovers which are mildly more enjoyable than having to relive Friday’s.

Threats

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 | Bad Days | 3 Comments

I once made a vow not to blog about personal work-related items on this blog.

FUCK THAT VOW IN THE EAR.

She is a spineless wench without any sense of decency. Correction: To sit there and BLATANTLY lie to my face requires some form of spine. It’s not mammalian, but reptillian.

She’s a viper. A snake. A low-down nasty bitch.

Today I wore my “Angry Face”. I haven’t done that in a very long time. In fact, the last time I wore this face was when a Bulgarian patronised me and taught me what HTML stood for.

I can tollerate a great many things and maintain my composure. Surefire way to piss me off: Lie to me, and bring a litigation lawyer to the meeting to try and BULLY me into agreeing.

Well, you can have all the contract lawyers in the world analyse our contract, honey, but it clearly states that YOU ARE IN BREACH OF CONTRACT. Your threats are meaningless. Your lies are transparent. Your methods are malicious and nasty.

I will never, EVER, work with you again.

Hatred.

It took me three hours to get home last night.

Three stinkin’ hours.

If the police dont lock up the hoax caller soon, they’re going to be investigating another homicide.
