Budapest

Budapest -

Seen Buda, seen Pest. Seen the dodgy Kareoke Bar at 3am…

Managed to get a lot of things done in this lovely city - so much
history to absorb! Visited the House of Terror, on Andrassy Bvd…
still reeling from some of those stories.

Went into the ancient Labrynth - without a lantern because the
numbscull working the desk forgot to give me one. Scared myself
shitless when I thought I’d got lost! Thankfully, I’d packed my
MacGuyver Pocket Knife and LED torch - so I was safe from David
Bowie…

I recommend everybody comes here to check this cool city out!

Prague - Pretty but very commercial

After the peace and quiet of Krakow, we landed in pretty Prague. We
were living right in the Old Town, so it was easy to get in to see all
the attractions. I spotted the Astronomical Clock. It was very
astronomical.

I didn’t realise how interesting the history of the place was, so that
was an unexpected bonus. The beer was also unexpectedly fantastic.

Visited the Castle - and walked over the Charles Bridge… along with
50,000,000 other tourists!!

Now in Cesky Krumlov - about to go explore!

Poland. Krakow and Concentration Camps.

Thursday, September 17th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Poland isn’t what I expected. I expected cold, draughty, and poor.
It’s warm, sunny and very metropolitan. The shopping here is amazing,
it’s just a pity I hate to shop!

The food is also amazing - I ordered a SMALL SIZE!

I couldn’t come to Poland without visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau. I was
holding my shit together well until I saw the room full of childrens
shoes, stolen from murdered Jewish children.

Visiting this place makes the statistics seem very very real, and very
terrifying.

 Lest we forget.
