Saving for a Rainy Day

So, after weeks and weeks of angst, I finally caved in. I over-indulged and gave into my tech-lust. The object of my constant and total devotion is now sitting here, purring sweetly.

Oh, Ixus 500. I’m so in love with you.
I spent around 200 hours ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ about whether or not to jump into a financial commitment with a digital camera. I mean, I dont have committment phobia and I’m all keen to settle down with technology, but was the Ixus 500 right for me? Were we compatible? Was it going to defrag my binary digits? Was I simply a geek giving into tech-aholism?
My old, and sadly retired Panasonic DMC-F7 just doesn’t do it for me any more. The spark has gone from the relationship.
*ZING!* Even the bionic man couldn’t get this excited about technology!
I’m not scared of the dark any more, mummy! Low light photography is something that no longer intimidates me. And now, with a whole x13 zoom, I can get right up close to whatever it is I’m looking at! I took a photo of a booger in the nose of a guy who was standing at the bus-stop two blocks away. The detail on the booger photo was just too detailed for word. Ew.
But whatever you do - DONT TELL MY MOTHER! About the booger photo. And the new camera.
She’s been telling me for weeks that I dont ‘need’ a new camera, that it’s simply an especially geeky ‘want’. True, the Ixus 500 isn’t exactly necessary for the survival of my genetic material, but just LOOK AT IT! With all the shiney 5 Megapixel crispness at my beck and call, I dont need food, or transport, or oxygen for that matter! Merely holding it sends me to a very special place.
And the bit about the booger photo would probably just disgust her.
Me and my Ixus, together at last!
