Cold Snap

Cold Snap

Toowoomba has had its last day of summerish weather. The skies are still blue, and the birds still sing, but step out that door and you'll be turned into a shivering pile of goober in no time. I'm not a winter person. I dont simply dont enjoy the cold. The winds have begun, and probably wont end til some time in November. Mornings are getting harder to navigate, and walking to uni becomes a lesson in how to blow-dry your hair without use of electrickery.

Indeed, Monday 8am is not my friend even at the best of times, but its getting harder and harder to justify listening to Prolog when I could be snuggled warmly beneath my blankets. Even harder, when you're wrapped up in a fantastic dream about being Bodyguard to the stars of Lord of the Rings.... *dreamy gaze*

Yet, in the end, Prolog wins out, and I'm forced to swing my legs out of their comfy haven, and down onto the cold twist-pile of my bedroom floor. Once verticle, its then a race between the freezing cold bedroom and boiling hot shower. I'll spare the steamy shower scene, but as you're probably aware of, there's just nothing like waking up underneath a hot shower... There's the back arch, the arm swing, and the deep sigh that the day just cannot start without. Its like a warm liquid hug, bringing you gently back to consciousness.

However, the warmpth doesn't last due to the failings of modern appliences, and I'm forced to rinse off my hair with cold water, before doing the towel-toga dash into my room. Of course, I always have a contingency plan in action, in case of nasty hot-water shortages. And so, the gentle whirring of the humble heater brings the feeling back to my fingers and toes, while I navigate the sock drawer. Is there anything better than putting on pre-warmed underware?
